EUROPE: Passenger information system supplier Ruf Group has agreed a pan-European partnership which will see it act as official reseller and system integrator for Swedish company Observit’s cloud-based CCTV, edge computing and AI-powered analytics for public transport.
The companies will jointly engage in tenders, technology pilots and long-term projects, starting with the supply of more than 700 cameras for a train operator in the Netherlands.
‘For some time now, we have been working closely with the Ruf Group on joint projects, and this agreement is a natural next step’, Observit CEO Björn Callenfors said on July 9. ‘Their experience and reputation in the train industry are unmatched. Together, we can offer rail customers a highly scalable, secure and future-proof solution for onboard video and analytics.’
Ruf CEO Hans Streuli said ‘this partnership strengthens our ability to serve customers with smart, connected and regulation-compliant onboard systems and reaffirms the Ruf Group’s leading role in shaping the future of passenger information’.
