SPAIN: Under the European Union-funded Getaway project to improve the safety of public spaces, Catalan regional operator FGC is to hold four emergency evacuation exercises at Sant Cugat station in the suburbs of Barcelona. With the participation of researchers from the University of Greenwich in the UK, the first two exercises are due to be held on May 26 and June 2.
FGC is currently seeking members of the public to participate in the trials, on the condition that they are not regular users of the station. During the 2 h evacuation exercises, the movement and behaviour of participants leaving the station will be recorded for future analysis.
