USA: Watco’s Bogalusa Bayou Railroad has acquired Amzak Capital Management’s Geaux Geaux Railroad, which runs 42 km from Slaughter to Zee in Louisiana.

The line serves paper and packaging company Hood Container, and interchanges with Canadian National in Baton Rouge.

Watco said Geaux Geaux Railroad provides opportunities for wagon storage for current and future customers in industrial hubs including Geismar, Lake Charles and Baton Rouge, while land adjacent to the line offers opportunities for the development of manufacturing or distribution facilities.

‘Our team has been operating the Geaux Geaux Railroad since 2018’, said Watco Sales Manager Dave Riggs on May 20. ‘As the owner of the line, we can continue to leverage our experience in several service areas to build on the current business.’
