Green Cargo has unveiled the first of two winterised Stadler Eurodual six-axle electro-diesel locomotives which it is leasing from ELP. They are to be uses on the Bergen line in Norway, where they will replace Bombardier Transportation Traxx locomotives. ‘The Eurodual locomotive can pull the train by itself whereas two four-axle locomotives were needed for pulling one freight train. The new locomotive reduces operating costs and offers capacity for more freight wagons’, says Bengt Fors, Managing Director of Green Cargo Norway.

The first train has arrived at a main High Speed 2 construction compound roughly halfway between London and Birmingham. The train operated by DB Cargo UK and Hanson delivered 1 650 tonnes of aggregate that will be used in the construction of the temporary Calvert Railhead being built by HS2 main works contractor EKFB. More than 180 trains are set to deliver material to the site over the next year, and across the whole HS2 project, 15 000 trains are set to be used to haul 10 million tonnes of aggregate.
