INDIA: A special purpose vehicle called Bangalore Airport Rail Link Ltd has been set up by the Karnataka State Industrial Investment & Development Corp to manage construction of a 34 km, Rs57·67bn rail link from the city centre to Bengaluru International Airport in Devanahalli.

Five consortia are expected to bid for construction contracts. Draft tender documents are awaiting national government approval before being issued. The longlisted bidders are:

  • Reliance Infrastructure and CSR Nanjing Puzhen Rolling Stock Co;
  • L&T Transco Ltd;
  • Italian Thai Development and Soma Enterprises;
  • Pioneer Infratech Pvt and Siemens;
  • Lanco Infratech with OHL Concesiones.
