FUENCARRAL COMSA

SPAIN: Comsa has been awarded a €41m contract to expand national operator’s RENFE depot in the northern Madrid suburb of Fuencarral.

The new main building will be 240 m long and 45 m wide with six tracks. There will also be a three-storey office block.

Comsa will construct the buildings, track and electrification systems, while sister company Comsa Industrial will be responsible for fitting out the complex.

Comsa will also build a provisional maintenance hall for use until the main facility is completed. This will be 220 m long and 15 m wide with two 1 668 mm gauge tracks raised above ground level, equipped with working platforms and electrified using rigid contact wires.

  • Comsa is currently building a depot at Alstom’s Santa Perpètua de Mogoda factory where the manufacturer will maintain 10 Coradia Stream EMUs ordered by FGC for use on services from central Barcelona to El Prat airport.
