SPAIN: High speed infrastructure manager ADIF Alta Velocidad has awarded ACS, Ferrovial and Zarzuela a €216m contract for the remodelling and expansion of Valladolid-Campo Grande station to accommodate a predicted increase in passenger traffic. Técnica & Proyectos has been awarded a €11m contract to provide consulting and support services.
The project includes a 7 900 m² building on a raft to the north of the existing station building and trainshed. This will double the space available for passengers, provide room for retail outlets and open up a new pedestrian route across the railway.
There will be two additional tracks for high speed trains, a 605-space subterranean car park, facilities for taxis and bikes and a ‘kiss-and-ride’ point. A large plaza with green areas is to be created and the historic station buildings renovated.
