NOKIA: Visitors to the Nokia stand at InnoTrans 2018 have a chance to see the company’s analytics engine that incorporates weather forecasting and geological data to assess the risk of floods affecting rail operations.

Nokia has been working with a US railroad on the first application of Water Events Intelligence. The platform combines real-time weather forecast data with hydrological modelling to predict the probability and likely severity of floods so that their effects can be mitigated. These data streams can be integrated with other types of data from infrastructure-mounted sensors, and navigated using a dashboard.
