INNOTRANS: Michaela Stöckli, director of Swiss railway industry association Swissrail, will be the guest on the next edition of the InnoTrans Mobility podcast. She will be discussing the 15 km Ceneri Base Tunnel, which opened last year as part of the NEAT trans-Alpine rail corridor enhancement programme.

‘The opening of the Ceneri Base Tunnel in September 2020 marked the completion after 20 years of Switzerland’s largest rail project, which cost around SFr23bn’, said Stöckli. ‘The new trans-Alpine route across Europe with its main level section in Switzerland aims to make transporting goods from Rotterdam to Genova more efficient and above all more climate-friendly.’

Look towards the next InnoTrans show, Stöckli said ‘the companies of the Swiss rail industry whose combined expertise was responsible for this epic feat can hardly wait to present their products and services at InnoTrans 2022’.

The second episode of trade fair organiser Messe Berlin’s InnoTrans podcast is set to be released on March 9.

The third episode is then to follow on April 13, with monthly editions until the next InnoTrans exhibition.

‘We are always moving with the times’, said InnoTrans director Kerstin Schulz. ‘The high level of international interest in our podcast has convinced us to continue the format until InnoTrans in September 2022.’

  • Railway Gazette is the only official international media partner for InnoTrans, the largest railway industry exhibition in the world. The next InnoTrans will take place in Berlin on September 20-23 2022.
