GERMANY: Leipzig transport authority LVB has selected Solaris to supply five trams with options for a further 36. The value of the base order is €7·7m.

Deliveries are scheduled to start in 2016 and run until 2020 if all options are called off. The 1 458 mm gauge vehicles are to be 45 m long and will exceed the tender specification for at least 70% low-floor vehicles.

The Polish manufacturer beat a bid from Bombardier to win its third tram export order, following contracts for Jena in 2011 and Braunschweig in 2012.
