MALAYSIA: Thales and the Malaysian Industry-Government Group for High Technology has signed a memorandum of understanding setting out plans to promote the development of rail industry skills.

The memorandum signed on July 29 is intended as the first in a series of initiatives planned under the National Rail Industry Development Roadmap which aims to provide 'rail ready' professionals able to meet industry demand.

MIGHT and Thales would support signalling and communications courses at a planned Rail Centre of Excellence. This would initially provide education and training, with research and development to follow. It would also host small and medium-sized enterprises and original equipment manufacturers, including production facilities.
