INDIA: Zylog Systems has formed a strategic alliance with Nomad Digital to develop wireless telecoms products for the Indian rail market.

Nomad hopes to expand into Asia based on its experience of installing WiMax technology in the UK and supplying wireless internet services for railways and transit operators in Norway and the USA. Zylog is an IT services provider with a strong focus on Asian markets.

One Indian Railways train has already been equipped with a wireless network for testing purposes, although the release of further details of the project has been delayed by the recent general election.

Zylog’s Head of Mobility Solutions Vivek Whig commented that ‘with our offerings the consumer will now be on a par with the rest of the world in terms of internet access’.
