CHINA: The CRRC Puzhen Bombardier Transportation Systems joint venture has been awarded a 27-year contract to maintain the guideways and trainsets for the monorail network which is under construction at Wuhu in Anhui province. Opening is planned by the end of this year.

In 2017 the PBTS 50:50 joint venture of Bombardier Transportation (now Alstom) and CRRC Nanjing Puzhen was awarded a 1·8bn yuan contract to build the two monorail lines, which are being developed by Wuhu Yunda Rail Transit Construction & Operation Co as the backbone of the city’s public transport system.

Line 1 will run for 30·3 km with 24 stations and be operated using 28 six-car Innovia 300 driverless monorail trainsets, while Phase 1 of Line 2 will run for 16·5 km with 12 stations and 18 four-car trains.

‘This latest order demonstrates the confidence that Wuhu’s authority has in the build and maintain principle and their trust in Alstom’s leading role in China’s growing transportation sector following the acquisition of Bombardier Transportation’, said Jianwei Zhang, President of Alstom China, when the latest contract was announced on June 3.
