AUSTRALASIA: The Australasian Railway Association has opened registration for its Understanding Rail courses aimed at new entrants to the railway and metro sectors.

ARA will be holding two five-week interactive online courses during 2023, the first starting on March 1 and the second taking place in September.

‘Whether you are new to the rail industry, have recently started a new role, or simply want to brush up on your industry knowledge, our Understanding Rail course is the ideal opportunity to take the next step in your career’, says ARA. .

Focused on the rail industry in Australia and New Zealand, the course will give students the chance to ‘hear direct from some of the industry’s most respected experts’. The course will be delivered in the form of five 90 min modules. The March sessions will cover:

  • a rail industry overview;
  • track, infrastructure and rolling stock;
  • rail operations and safety;
  • passenger and freight rail;
  • contractors and the supply chain.

Participants will have the chance to network with their peers online, take part in live interactive sessions and make the most of a range of additional educational content via a dedicated digital platform.
