BRAZIL: Vale has awarded ENSCO Rail a contract to provide a suite of track inspection systems and analysis software over the next 12 months for use on its 2 000 km rail network.

This will include an ENSCO-designed, manufactured and installed Autonomous Track Geometry Measurement System which will be mounted on a Vale locomotive to provide automated fault identification and reporting, and a Vehicle/Track Interaction monitor which will be mounted on a second locomotive to measure ride quality, wheel-rail impacts and issues such as such as mud spots and pumping joints.

ENSCO’s Automated Maintenance Advisor software package will process the data from the ATGMS and V/TI in order to recommend maintenance interventions.

‘This is an outstanding opportunity to collaborate with one of the country’s largest companies and to provide solutions that will improve safety, efficiency and effectiveness for the Vale rail network in the short and long terms’, said ENSCO President Boris Nejikovsky.
