NS announces the public sale of a minimum of 15 ICM EMU trainsets, made available following their replacement in NS operations. The trainsets will be offered individually.

Key technical information

General information:

  • Manufacturer: Talbot, Aachen (Germany)

  • Current homologation: All trainsets are homologated for The Netherlands, including the cross-border line to Bad Bentheim (Germany)
  • Interested parties are advised to take note of Dutch legislation such as the Besluit Toegankelijkheid Openbaar Vervoer which may impose restrictions on the use of the trainsets in the Netherlands

* ‘A’ indicates first class, ‘B’ indicates second class, ‘m’ (motor) indicates that the car is powered, ‘F’ (Fiets) indicates that there is a dedicated area for bikes, ‘k’ (koprijtuig) indicates that it is a cab/control car, and ‘s’ (stuurrijtuig) indicates that it is a trailing car.

General conditions for sale

  • Expected deadline for pick-up is 1 November 2026. An earlier date is to be agreed upon by parties.
  • Trainsets must be used for railway operations only.
  • Purchaser must become or designate a Vehicle Keeper and Entity in Charge of Maintenance.
  • Trainsets are sold as-is-where-is.

Sales process

Expression of interest

  • Interested parties are requested to register a non-binding expression of interest before 24 April 2026 to ensure timely access to the next phases of the process. No entry fee is required for this initial registration. Expressions of interest can be sent to the contact person below.
  • Access to detailed information on the set-up of the sales process and the train sets (including EVR numbers, maintenance data and available documentation), as well as detailed information about the sales process, will be made available upon payment of an entry fee of EUR 1,000.
  • After payment of the entry free, parties are also offered a site visit for visual inspection of the trainsets.
  • The deadline for submission of bids is anticipated beginning of June 2026.

Bidding and award

  • Contract closure is expected to be around July 2026 (exact date to be confirmed in the information package).
