UK: Transport for London has shortlisted three bidders for the a contract to provide and maintain its revenue collection systems including ticket gates, Oyster smart card readers and back-office activities.

The contract is called Electra by TfL, and is scheduled to be awarded by October 2014. It will start when TfL's current contract with Cubic expires in August 2015 and run for seven years, with an early exit option at five years and extension options of up to three years.

The Electra contract covers the maintenance and availability of fare collection equipment on 8 500 buses, 1 900 ticket gates at London Underground and London Overground stations, 1 800 stand-alone smart card validators including those on the Docklands Light Railway, 1 600 ticket machines and 4 000 retail devices in shops. It also includes supporting TfL's plans to increase use of contactless payment cards.
