FRANCE: Alstom announced on December 15 that it had been awarded a firm contract to supply six additional Citadis trams to Métropole Nice Côte d’Azur, along with 22 ground-based SRS static charging zones.

The €27m order is an option on a €91m contract signed in October 2015 that covered 19 trams with options for up to 18 more, as well as SRS charging infrastructure and 12 years of maintenance.

Trams from the base order are scheduled to enter service in mid-2018 on Line T2. Manufacture of the newly ordered trams and installation of SRS is due to begin in early 2019. The trams are intended to operate on Line T3.

To enable catenary-free operation on parts of the route, the Citadis X05 trams will be equipped with Ecopack supercapacitors. These will be recharged at stops in 20 sec.
