GERMANY: Federal railway authority EBA has approved Alstom’s NBT concrete slab track for operational testing.

To obtain the German approval, Alstom worked with notified body TÜV Rheinland InterTraffic and Technische Universität München’s Department of Civil, Geo & Environmental Engineering.

Alstom co-developed NBT for use on mixed-traffic main line railways with trains running at speeds of up to 360 km/h. The company says NBT offers a long lifespan and availability, and can be installed faster than traditional slab track using a construction process derived from its Appitrack urban rail technology which allows up to 300 m to be laid per day.
