HUNGARY: Budapest’s integrated public transport authority BKK is to install IVU Traffic Technologies’ fleet management and passenger information systems on its tram network in the next few months.

Around 600 trams are being fitted with the IVU.fleet operational control system. This will send data to the control centre using UMTS technology, which replaces the current two-way radio connections. The real-time data will be automatically monitored and displayed on an interactive network map.

IVU.fleet will also introduce a disturbance management system so that replacement services can be easily organised in the event of any disruption.

Data from the control centre will be sent to new digital information displays at tram stops, as well as internet and smartphone applications, using IVU.realtime.

IVU is working with Synergon, a Hungarian IT services company, which has overall responsibility as general contractor.
