COLOMBIA: Canadian rail consultancy Canarail and Bogotá-based railway engineering and consulting firm A de G Ingeniería have agreed an exclusive partnership for the Colombian market.

Announcing the agreement on January 8, Canarail said the Colombian government intends to invest $21bn in developing rail infrastructure over the next 10 years, and has adopted a regulatory framework which promotes private initiatives for the grant of new or existing railway concessions.

A de G Ingeniería was established in 1992 and specialises in railway feasibility studies, design and analysis. Managing Director Gustavo Arias de Greiff said the partnership would 'allow us to combine our local expertise with Canarail's international knowledge and depth in order to participate in the development of our country's rail services.'
