CZECH REPUBLIC: Faiveley Transport officially opened its new railway systems manufacturing plant in Plzen on June 1, completing one of the largest investments under the group's 2015-18 Strategic Plan.

The 20 000 m2 facility with 300 staff produces pantographs, power collectors and converters. An additional 6 000 m² could be utilised from January 2018, and the site’s activities are to be expanded to include couplers, buffers, brakes and door components.

Production at the facility had begun in January, replacing a plant 20 km away in Blovice.

‘The decision to open a new site in Plzen was made as part of our strategic plan to improve our performance and competitiveness’, explained Chairman & CEO Stéphane Rambaud-Measson at the opening ceremony. ‘This new site reflects our ambition to operate as a market leader, providing the highest standards of quality to our customers and of safety to our employees.’
