INDIA: TKIL Industries and Hoppecke Batterie Systeme are to work together to develop and supply high performance battery systems in the Indian rail and metro markets.

The German company will contribute its experience in battery development and production, while TKIL, previously known as Thyssenkrupp Industries India, will provide expertise in engineering, manufacturing and project management.

‘India is a strategically important growth market for sustainable mobility’, said Hoppecke CEO Dr Marc Zoellner on May 12. ‘This partnership with a well-regarded partner such as TKIL Industries in India is a significant step towards creating real added value on the railways with our battery systems’.

TKIL CEO Vivek Bhatia said ‘Hoppecke brings deep technological expertise in energy storage solutions, and at TKIL Industries, we bring decades of experience in delivering large-scale infrastructure projects across India and around the world. Together, we aim to play a pivotal role in accelerating the electrification of the Indian mobility market focusing on rail’.
