UKRAINE: Interpipe NTRP has begun testing new machining facilities which it has installed at its wheel rolling shop in Dnipro at a cost of U$6m. The equipment includes two CNC machining centres, a paint shop, a measuring and balancing machine and a magnetic particle inspection unit. The facility has a capacity of 60 000 wheels/year, and is intended to replace the use of subcontractors.

‘The launch of the new production site for the machining of railway wheels will give us a good opportunity to move into the passenger, metro and complex locomotive wheel market segment’, said Chief Commercial Officer Alexander Garkavij. ‘We will be able to perform the whole cycle of necessary operations, from steel melting to precision finish machining.’
