Horizontal VDF Boehringer VDF T turning centers enable the economical finishing of railway axles with maximum precision in a single set-up.

INDIA: Fair Friend Group company MAG IAS has been awarded turnkey contract to supply a railway axle production line with a capacity of 60 000 axles/year for the Jupiter Tatravagónka Railwheel Factory being developed at Khurda in Odisha.

The ‘double-digit million-euro’ order includes a complete machining and inspection line with high-precision VDF Boehringer VDF 450 4T horizontal turning centres, with comprehensive automation, marking and measuring stations and a central plant control system.

Four different axle types will be able to be manufactured with minimal changeover effort. A digital plant twin and comprehensive 3D simulations will support planning, commissioning and optimisation, including calculating energy consumption under various operating scenarios.

The plant is scheduled to start production in Q3 2026, with a significant proportion of its output being for export.

‘With the newly established site in Khurda, we are ensuring that JTRWF receives comprehensive technical support of the highest standard’, said Shashank MP, Managing Director of MAG IAS India Industrial Automation Systems, on September 30. ‘Our team will support our own brand machines as well as provide service for third-party components.’
