Battery manufacturer Saft has launched Saft Urja as the brand for products manufactured and sold by its subsidiary in India. ‘Urja means energy in Sanskrit, so by branding our products under the name of Saft Urja, we are reflecting the spirit of the country and showing Saft’s positive energy’, said Arindam Majumdar, CEO of Saft India.

Alstom is to invest US$7m in Israel-based railway cybersecurity specialist Cylus. The minority stake will give Alstom one seat on the board, and the deal includes a strategic co-operation agreement to build a commercial partnership to provide cybersecurity services in the rail market. The first implementation will be on the Tel Aviv Red Line.

Synectics has appointed Dr Kerstin Wendt to lead its German business, including implementation of an operational management system for DB subsidiary S-Bahn Berlin GmbH and heading up the relationship with long-term client Berlin transport operator BVG. Wendt joins from Berlin-Brandenburg transport authority VBB, where she led the development of fares and digital ticketing.

Alstom’s Coradia iLint hydrogen fuel cell multiple-unit has been approved for passenger service.

Alstom has attained the highest possible score of A in the 2020 annual assessment for transparency and leadership on climate issues run by global environmental non-profit CDP, formerly known as the Carbon Disclosure Project. This is up from last year’s score of A-. ‘This outcome demonstrates our sustained commitment and strong performance when it comes to energy and climate challenges. Renault Group subsidiary Karhoo which provides a marketplace for taxi, private driver and vehicle hire companies has announced a partnership with ticket retailer Trainline. Karhoo enables MaaS applications to integrate local and national taxi and vehicle hire services, and is used by SNCF’s Personal Mobility Assistant and will be used by Renfe-as-a-Service.
