IRELAND: Synectics Security is to provide IP-based video surveillance on the coaches used on Iarnród Éireann’s Dublin – Cork inter-city services.

The Synectics T2000 platform with fish-eye cameras in the vestibules and saloons will provide full connectivity from trains to the control room, replacing the existing onboard CCTV.

Installation is to begin in September, and will be followed by five years of support.

‘This win represents a further step into on-vehicle heavy rail solutions for our Synectics Security business, building on our deep experience across light-rail markets’, said Iain Stringer, Managing Director of Synectics Security. ‘Our approach is opening up new opportunities for all rail operators to transition their video management capability to the cloud and improve operational effectiveness.’
