Infrastructure manager Bane Nor has awarded Vossloh subsidiary Sateba Norway an eight-year framework contract for the supply of up to three million sleepers. Environmental aspects were a factor in the award, and the sleepers will be manufactured at the Sateba plant in Hønefoss using cement produced by Heidelberg Materials using a carbon capture technology which reduces CO2 emissions by more than 40% compared to previous methods.

Basetime has launched Locator Two, a solar powered monitoring system which combines satellite positioning technology with integrated tilt sensing to provide insight into the condition of linear infrastructure such as railways and bridges. Locator Two continuously monitoring structural movement and rotation, enabling early detection of anomalies before visible damage occurs, building on Locator One which is used for temporary monitoring of construction projects.

Alstom has appointed Kees van der Snel as Country Managing Director Netherlands from March 1. He has 32 years of experience across multiple industrial sectors, including seven years at Alstom and eight at Bombardier. ‘The Netherlands remains a highly promising market with significant growth potential, and I am confident that under Kees’s leadership, Alstom will continue to strengthen its performance and long-term presence in the country’, said Europe Region President Andrew DeLeone on February 17.

Progress Rail has opened an engineering office at Curitiba in Brazil which it says is designed to drive collaboration, accelerate technological advancements and champion sustainability.

Security, communication and surveillance system technology company Petards Joyce-Loebl has promoted General Manager Victoria Hodge to the position of Managing Director and appointed Maria Walker as Business Development Manager of the Petards Rail division, responsible for managing business accounts and driving growth beyond the UK. Walker joins from Telent Technology Services where she managed the expansion of key Network Rail accounts and developed strategic partnerships with Tier 1 contractors.
