Pride Bodies produces custom-made aluminium bodies for maintenance vehicles.

NORTH AMERICA: Wabtec Corp has completed the acquisitions of Unitrac Railroad Materials and Pride Bodies, which have combined annual sales of about US$45m.

Tennessee-based Unitrac designs and manufactures track products including turnouts and crossings for Class I, short line and urban rail operators throughout North America.

Pride Bodies is based in Ontario, and produces custom-made aluminium bodies for maintenance vehicles, road-rail equipment, cranes, air compressor systems and lighting.

In recent years Wabtec has expanded beyond locomotive and rolling stock equipment into the track products and services sector, with the acquisition of companies including G&B Specialties and Track IQ. ‘Railroads in the USA spend up to 70% of their capital on infrastructure, and these acquisitions demonstrate Wabtec’s expansion in this key market’, said Wabtec President & CEO Raymond T Betler on May 9. ‘Unitrac and Pride Bodies will be a good strategic fit with our existing capabilities, which now represent more than US$100m of annual revenues.’
