USA: Construction of the M-1 light rail project in Detroit officially started on July 28. The first stage of construction, due to last 120 days, includes utility relocation and drain installation along Woodward Avenue. Total construction is to last 27 months.

Also known as the Woodward Avenue Streetcar, the 5·3 km line would run along Woodward Avenue from Larned Street to East Grand Boulevard with 12 stops. Stacy & Witbeck was selected as construction manager and general contractor last July.

The cost of construction is estimated at $140m, of which $25m will come from a Tiger grant.
