POLAND: PKP Intercity has selected Pesa to supply 20 new long-distance electric multiple-units. The cost of 1·3bn złoty, includes 15 years of servicing from delivery by the end of October 2015.

The trains are from Pesa’s Dart family of long-distance EMUs, and will have a maximum speed of 160 km/h. According to the supplier, 70% of components will be produced in Poland and 350 companies are to be involved.

The EMUs will be 150 m long with 352 seats, including 60 in first class, six toilets and space for six bicycles.

They are to be used on the Jelenia Góra – Wrocław – Łódź – Warszawa – Białystok/Lublin and the Białystok/Lublin – Warszawa – Koluszki – Częstochowa – Katowice – Bielsko Biała routes.
