INTERNATIONAL: Luxury and high-end car dealer China Greenland Rundong Auto Group Ltd has taken delivery of its first batch of 82 cars delivered from Europe by rail.

A train carrying the cars in containers had left Duisburg in Germany at 22.30 on May 20. A ceremony marked their arrival at the Chongqing XiYong Comprehensive Bonded Zone during the afternoon of June 13, having travelled via Poland, Belarus, Russia, and Kazakhstan.

The cars included Range Rovers, BMWs and Audis which were purchased in Europe and delivered to China as ‘parallel imports’ outside the car manufacturers’ official distribution networks. China Greenland Rundong Auto Group said delivery by rail was around 30 days faster than by sea, boosting its competitiveness by reducing risks and port charges.
