SNCF’s logistics business Geodis has been appointed as the delivery partner for Mes Baggages, a bespoke door-to-door luggage delivery service offered by SNCF Voyageurs. This gives guaranteed collection and delivery times for standard and oversized luggage shipments which Geodis will undertake while the customer travels by rail. 

Indian Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw opened the Gati Shakti Cargo Terminal at car manufacturer Maruti Suzuki’s Manesar plant on June 17. Reported to be the largest rail-served automotive terminal in India, the facility is linked to the Indian Railways network by a dedicated 10 km branch line from Patli. The terminal is expected to handle 450 000 cars per annum. 

Neo Lox GmbH

Newly launched German rail freight operator Neo Lox has agreed a lease deal for two Stadler EuroDual locomotives with European Loc Pool. The locomotives will be used to support Neo Lox’s growth in the construction and rail infrastructure services segments, with the operation of worksite supply trains for DB InfraGo a likely deployment for the electro-diesel locos. Based in Bottrop, Neo Lox was founded in 2024.

Oil company Slovnaft has awarded ŽOS Zvolen a contract to overhaul 10 industrial shunting locos used at its Bratislava refinery. The class 704, 740 and 744 locos will be refurbished over a three year period, and the partnership has an option for a further three years. The work builds on a remanufacturing programme 10 years ago which saw the locos rebuilt with low-emission Caterpillar engines.

GBRf 60087 at Horton Quarry - 17.06.25

UK operator GB Railfreight has operated the first freight train into Horton Quarry near Ribblesdale, North Yorkshire, since 1965. Customer Heidelberg Materials UK produces limestone and high-quality gritstone for road and runway surfacing at the site. A newly constructed rail terminal was commissioned in mid-June, and regular services are expected to begin moving limestone to terminals in northwest England after an initial two-week trial period.
