TÜRASAŞ wagon

Turkey’s Türasaş produced a record 801 wagons of different types during 2025. This included 100 wagons for the transport of military tanks. Factories within the group also produced 20 E5000 electric locomotives, six 160 km/h electric trainsets, eight commuter trains and six battery-powered shunting vehicles. 

The Naviland Cargo business unit within SNCF’s Rail Logistics Europe division has acquired container carrier Seatruck in order to strengthen its road transport arm Navitrucking. As well as adding capacity, the combination of the two businesses is expected to increase Navitrucking’s annual turnover from €80m to more than €135m.

Poti–Baku express

Azerbaijan Railways and Georgian Railway  held a ceremony at the port of Poti on January 30 marking the launch of a Poti to Baku express block train linking the Black and Caspian seas. Azerbaijan’s ADY said the service would save cargo owners time and storage costs.

Lithuanian rail freight operator LTG Cargo has updated its Green Kilometrage Calculator tool that businesses can use to calculate how much carbon dioxide emissions are saved by transporting their semi-trailer or container by rail on one of its regular intermodal routes. ‘We have updated the calculator for several reasons’,  said Eglė Šimė, head of LTG Cargo. ‘The current savings calculation methodology is closer to European calculators. Secondly, it is now very easy to use. With just a few clicks, you can find out how much CO2e your business saves by choosing to transport a semi-trailer or container by rail rather than by road.’

Mozambican coal miner ICVL has awarded India’s Rites a US$20·6m contract to supply and maintain new 1 067 mm gauge diesel-electric locomotives. 

Polish rail logistics company Olavion has acquired 60% of the shares of Rheinische Bahnpersonal & Verkehrsgesellschaft as part of its plans to expand into the German market. Baker Tilly provided transaction support to the buyer, including financial due diligence and valuation.
