FRANCE: Société du Grand Paris approved €3·49bn for the Grand Paris project last month. The investment will go towards construction of Lines 16 between Noisy-Champs and Saint-Denis-Pleyel, as well as Line 17 South from Le Bourget RER station to Triangle-de-Gonesse and Line 14 North from Mairie de Saint-Ouen to Saint-Denis-Pleyel.

The 29 km of underground automated metro lines would include nine stations, including seven interchanges with RER, metro or tram lines. Rolling stock will be funded separately, with a decision expected in late 2015.

A public inquiry will be held later this year, with construction due to start in 2016. Lines 16 and 17 would open in 2023.

  • RATP has awarded a €165m contract to a consortium of Bouygues Travaux Publics and Soletanche Bachy for a 2·2 km extension of metro Line 14 from Clichy-Saint Ouen to Pleyel.
