MALAYSIA: Project promoter MyHSR Corp has awarded ERE Consulting Group a contract to carry out a social and heritage impact assessment for the Malaysian section of the planned Kuala Lumpur – Singapore high speed line.

'The appointed consultant will be responsible to assess the possible social impact arising from the three phases of the KL–SG HSR project, which encompasses the pre-construction, construction and operational phases’, said MyHSR Chief Executive Mohd Nur Ismal Mohamed Kamal on January 5.

‘They will analyse all the feedback received from the public inspection exercise and will be conducting additional surveys and focus group discussions along the alignment', he added. 'From the assessment, effective mitigation measures will be formulated in order to further minimise any identified social impacts to the affected communities.’

ERE Consulting has previously undertaken similar work for the Sungai Buloh – Kajang and Sungai Buloh – Serdang – Putrajaya MRT lines in the Klang Valley, and phases one and two of the East Coast Rail Link.
