ROMANIA: Infrastructure manager CFR SA and the RailEC consortium of Alstom and A&S Turism Construct signed a contract for electrification of the 30 km line from Dărmănești to Dornești and Vicșani on the Ukrainian border on August 26.
Eight months have been allocated for design works and 18 months for implementation.
The 117m lei project is being funded from EU-Ukraine Solidarity Lanes programme, with the objective of increasing freight capacity and reducing transport emissions on the international railway link between Romania and Ukraine via the Vișcani to Vadu Siret border crossing.
