Malmö.

SWEDEN: Infrastructure manager Trafikverket has awarded Strukton Rail a €50m contract to maintain 360 track-km of railway in southern Sweden for five years from September 1 2015, with an option for a further two years.

The contract announced on January 8 covers the routes from Malmö to Simrishamn and Ystad, as well as sections of freight line in the Skåne region.

Strukton Rail will have full responsibility for preventive maintenance and repair of the track, electrification and signalling equipment, and as well as snow protection and clearance measures.

‘We are very pleased with the job as it is of great strategic importance for us’, said Strukton Rail’s regional manager Alf Karlsson ‘The contract allows us to further develop our business in the south of Sweden and strengthen our presence in Scandinavia's most expansive region.’
