A highlight of the company’s presentation will be the hydrogen fuel cell hybrid trainset developed jointly by East Japan Railway, Hitachi and Toyota Motor Corp.

The prototype has been manufactured by J-TREC incorporating railway and automotive technologies from the three partners. JR East provided the technology for designing and manufacturing the rolling stock, Hitachi provided the hybrid drive system incorporating a storage battery module, while Toyota supplied the fuel cell technology which has been evolved through the development of the company’s MIRAI fuel cell car and SORA fuel cell bus.
