CHINA: A topping out ceremony for Kai Tak station on the Shatin – Central Link in Hong Kong was held on July 16. This is the second station on the future metro line where civil works have been completed.

Construction started in 2013. Three entrances lead to a concourse on the upper level and there is an island platform below.

‘This is not only a big step forward in Hong Kong’s railway development but also a foundation to support the long-term development and growth of the city’, said MTR Corp CEO Lincoln Leong.

The 17 km SCL will have 10 stations including six interchanges. The 11 km Tai Wai – Hung Hom portion is scheduled for completion in 2018 and the 6 km second phase from Hung Hom to Admiralty is to be completed in 2020.
