Kursk Movista

RUSSIA: A PPP agreement for the modernisation of tramway infrastructure in Kursk has been signed by the regional authority and transport concessionaire Movista Regions.

The planners estimate that the modernisation programme will save passengers an average of 5 min per trip once the works have been complete.

The agreement signed on August 15 runs for 25 years and has a total value of 12·4bn roubles. The scope includes track renewals on the 42·6 km network, replacement of eight traction substations and modernising the depot.

Design work is to commence this year, with main works to begin in 2023.

A fleet of 22 new single-section trams is to be ordered for operation on the renovated network from 2024.
