PHILIPPINES: Concessionaire Light Rail Manila Corp has awarded a consortium of Bouygues Travaux Publics and Alstom a €450m contract to extend metro Line 1.

Alstom’s share is worth €160m and covers signalling and communications, power supplies and trackwork for the 11·7 km extension with eight stations. One new depot is to be built, and the existing depot will be enlarged.

Alstom is also to equip 60 trainsets with its Atlas 100 onboard signalling equipment and upgrade lineside signalling on the existing 20 km stretch.

LRMC — comprising Metro Pacific Investments Corp, Ayala Corp and Macquarie Group — operates Line 1 under a 65bn peso PPP contract awarded in 2014.

The southern extension to Bacoor in Cavite province is scheduled to enter service in 2020.
