CHINA: Hong Kong’s MTR Corp has provided vending machines at 10 metro stations where people can collect Covid-19 specimen collection packs as part of the government’s enhanced laboratory surveillance programme.

About 10 000 specimen collection packs supplied by a government contractor will be distributed each day. The vending machines are located in the unpaid area of these stations, and while stocks last each person can collect one pack free of charge using their Octopus smart card. The Traffic News section of the MTR Mobile app provides information about availability.

Announcing the plan, MTR Corp reminded people that anyone with symptoms or who had been in contact with a confirmed case should seek medical advice and testing arranged by hospitals.
