GERMANY: Frankfurt am Main transport operator VGF has signed a €100m contract with Alstom for the supply of 38 trams. The contract announced on June 19 includes options for 15 more vehicles.

The 100% low-floor three-section Citadis trams will be 31·5 m long with capacity for 197 passengers. The steel-bodied vehicles will be equipped with a driver assistance system, automatic dipped beam lights and rain sensors.

The first two trams are due be delivered in 2020. Alstom will also provide driver training, repair equipment and warranty services.
