THE MADRID regional government has given its approval for contracts to be let for the construction of a new 15 km suburban line in the southwestern outskirts of the Spanish capital, connecting Móstoles Central on Renfe's Line C5 and metro Line 12 with Navalcarnero. Construction is expected to take 30 months to complete at a cost of €362·3m.

With 46% of the alignment running in tunnel, the route will be engineered for a maximum speed of 140 km/h. There will be six intermediate stations, including one to serve the Puerta del Atlántico logistics park under development on the western edge of Móstoles.
