DB Systems has selected ILOG JViews to create the user displays for its Cargo Disposition Fahrzeuge application which is used to schedule freight trains throughout Germany.

CDIF monitors every locomotive in the Railion fleet, allowing decisions to be made about scheduling and deployment. The previous system relied on tables of data which required significant training to use, and hid some available information from view. Using the JViews-based displays, Railion staff can see the information at a glance, with locomotive status flagged with different colours and context-sensitive dialogue boxes indicating delays or problems.

’We have been able to reduce training hours to virtually zero since the application has gone live,’ said Rudolf Wagner, Project Manager at DB Systems. ’Railion has wholly embraced the application. We are now heading for 700 workstations with CDIF across Germany, 200 more than originally planned. In the final roll-out stage, approximately 1200 users will work with CDIF in three shifts around the clock.’
