FLIR Systems has updated its range of thermal imaging cameras aimed at specialist users within the rail sector.

Designed for a frequent user of infrared, the ThermaCAM T-Series has a number of features designed to accelerate the thermal imaging process. The T-Series integrates visual and thermal imaging and the design features the first use of touch-screen technology in such an application.

Hitachi Rail Maintenance is to use a ThermaCAM T400 at its Ashford depot to assist in maintenance of the Class 395 EMU fleet that is to be based there (RG 11.07 p700), including checking the integrity of fixings on high voltage jumper cables, assessing the condition of contactor tips and inspecting high resistance contacts on third rail shoe gear assemblies.
