TRANSMASH Holdings and Russian Railways announced plans to produce rolling stock in Kazakhstan following a meeting with Prime Minister Danial Akhmetov in late February.
The Russian firms plan to set up an assembly plant in Kazakhstan, and gradually localise vehicle production. Transmash Director-General Mikhail Khromov said active efforts are underway to find a suitable site, and 'diesel shunters and passenger cars might be produced in late 2006.'
