Bulgaria: Bulgarian State Railways has ordered 60000 Type B91S/2 concrete sleepers from ZSPV Uhersky Ostroh of the Czech Republic.

Canada: Canac Inc has been awarded contracts worth a total of C$17m to rebuild the 28 km Port Alfred - Jonquière and 16 km Alma - St Bruno sections of the Roberval & Saguenay Railway. To serve a new smelter at Alma, 11 km of track is being laid for the line’s owner Alcan Smelters & Chemicals Ltd.

GO Transit has awarded CLN Ventures Inc a contract to rebuild 29 locomotives at Capreol, Ontario. Work on the 26-month contract began in May.

Under a C$125m three-year programme to acquire 1300 new centre beam wagons for lumber traffic, CN is to add 400 vehicles this year at a cost of C$35m.
