GERMANY: Despite the woes affecting the global freight market, more than 47 500 visitors attended the Transport Logistic trade fair in München. The show attracted 1 760 exhibitors from 55 countries, across the rail, road, maritime and air sectors.

Amongst the rail exhibits was the first of 65 Traxx F140MS three-system electric locos being built by Bombardier for DB Schenker subsidiary Euro Cargo Rail. The Class 186 units are equipped to operate in France, Belgium and Germany.

Swiss rolling stock leasing company Wascosa was showing a range of vehicles including a 60 ft container flat with detachable body specifically designed for sugar beet traffic. The firm is currently providing vehicles for Swiss shipping group Bertschi, which is developing a Europe-wide intermodal network from its terminal at Birrfeld.

Now owned by VTG, wagon builder Graff has developed a new chemical tank wagon able to carry 91 m3 of acrylic nitrite. Use of composite brake blocks in place of cast iron has reduced the tare weight, allowing the capa-city of the wagon to be almost doubled.
